"The Last Stand" Game Mode Preview
With update 0.30 lots of new features will be added to Survarium, but one of the most significant will be The Last Stand game mode. This is the first Survarium game mode where players will fight not in a team but for themselves. For us, this is largely an experimental mode, and its rules may change a lot during testing. The description below is relevant only for Survarium version which will be presented on Public Test Server. We will keep you in the loop about all the changes in individual posts.
The Last Stand game mode is available on all the Survarium maps. Characters spawn at random spots on the map but no closer than thirty meters to other characters. Upon spawning your character is invulnerable for three seconds, which should be enough to find cover.
One of the main mechanics of The Last Stand is the elimination of opponents. The match starts with ten fighters, but after three minutes the player with the lowest score receives a warning about impending departure. Upon death, his or her character is eliminated from the battle. However, there is a chance to stay in the match: the player has to earn a higher score than one of his opponents so that other character will be eliminated instead. During the fight the number of available places in the match is reduced every minute and a half until it reaches the minimum number of three. The top three players will compete for the first place.
Please note that you always have the chance to improve your position. You will only leave the fight if your character dies while having the lowest score. This can lead to situations where players with the lowest score constantly replace each other, and none of them die, meaning no one is kicked. In such situations the bracket for removal will expand, so two or more players with the lowest scores face the risk of elimination on death.
Now let us describe the scoring system in detail. For each kill you get 10 points like you would in other modes. But there’s a twist: in The Last Stand all points earned for the current life are temporary. Upon death you keep only 75% of the points, while 25% go to the player that killed your character. This mechanic allows turning the tables with only one shot! The system is also designed to deal with the players who wish to preserve the result obtained at the beginning of the match. If they die at the end of the battle, they will lose much more than at the beginning.
There are several obvious limitations due to the nature of the new game mode. Firstly, squad play is not supported. If you are in a squad, The Last Stand will be unavailable. Secondly, having been eliminated from the battle too early, a player will not be able to search for loot from Stashes. This restriction is to ensure the players won't join a battle only to lose after three minutes so they can search the stash for free.
Hopefully, you will enjoy The Last Stand! And we will continue to post updates about Survarium 0.30. Stay tuned!
